True 2-D/3-D Associativity
HiCAD is the only CAD system in the world that offers true 2-D/3-D associativity, enabling you to work in an extremely flexible and productive manner. You can process 2-D drawings and 3-D model drawings simultaneously within one file, without tiresome switching between applications or windows. Changes to the 2-D drawing will automatically be transferred to the 3-D model and vice versa.
Existing 2-D drawings can be re-used without any loss of data, individually supplemented and automatically converted to 3-D model drawings. This is made possible by our HiCAD 2-D->3-D Conversion module enabling you to achieve time-savings of up to 90%! You may as well create your drawing in 3-D and then derive your production drawing from the 3-D model drawing. HiCAD provides the user with powerful state-of-the art modelling functions including a Freeform Surface module and virtually limitless options for model visualisation. The 3-D model can be instantly rendered in a photo-realistic manner by assigning appropriate illumination and material properties.

Free Choice of Working Technique
HiCaD offers free choice of design engineering techniques. You can choose whether you want to use free modelling (e.g. for the processing of imported designs without smart components) or parametric design (Feature Technique), i.e. display the part history in order to implement changes at later design stages.
